About

The following images show how selecting any view option prevents the mouse hover from drawing a frame around the hovered block. Deselecting the view options restores this frame. I would prefer to use the Top Toolbar option but not if it means losing the hover highlight of the blocks.

The following structure includes a column block with two columns and two button blocks, one in each column. The buttons are crude “call to action” buttons with links to other pages on this site. The buttons in the editor look nothing like the buttons in the page owing to theme css definitions. I’ve pasted a screen snap of the editor view of the buttons below the actual buttons. The theme has made the buttons white on black. The color button spacing is an artifact of the screen shot and not something the theme or editor has done

This is an image block showing the Call to Action buttons as seen in the Gutenberg editor – compare to the rendered white on black. The spacing is an artifact of the different viewport sizes in the editor vs the page

It occurred to me that it would be helpful and a memory tool if I did a screen grab of the button structure, so here it is.

This next section is a Classic Block which uses the older TinyMCE editor and was chosen because the content, a music tablature, contains many paragraphs that I did not wish to have split into blocks. Moreover, the text is highly aligned between lines so that chord indentifiers appear over the verse where they belong in the melody. The typeface is mono-spaced, and the format is “preformatted”. Part of why this works is the source is copied from an HTML page I created with a text editor and then pasted into the Classic Block. No further changes were required on my part, and the block allows inserting imagery and text formatting as a single block of coherent text.
